USB-DT Deuterium Tungsten Halogen Source

Most Versatile Lamp We Offer

The USB-DT Deuterium Tungsten Light Source is a compact source about the size of a deck of cards and provides stable, broadband output from 200-2000 nm. The USB-DT is our most versatile combination UV-VIS light source because you can control the several lamp functions via software and because of the many ways in which the lamp can be used in a measurement setup.

Software Control

When the USB-DT is stacked with the USB4000 or USB2000+, or used with an HR4000 or  HR2000+ and the Breakout Box, you can control the following lamp functions through software:

  • adjusting the intensity of the tungsten source

  • activating the internal shutter to block the light path

  • controlling on/off switch of each source independently

  • utilizing a low-power shutdown mode

  • saving settings in memory

Stack with the USB Series Spectrometer

The USB-DT can be set up in a variety of ways. It can be stacked with a USB4000 or USB2000+ with the USB-ADP-DT2 connector. (The USB-ADP-DT2 is not included with the purchase of a USB-DT). Though the USB-DT can be stacked with the USB4000, it is not the kind of direct-attach source that eliminates fibers; the USB-DT requires fibers as well as a simple 5-volt wall transformer for power (included).

Flexible Source

The USB-DT allows you to use the lamp with any Ocean Optics spectrometer. The USB-DT has a 15-pin connector for interfacing to your spectrometer quickly and easily. In this absorbance setup, the USB-DT provides light for a cuvette. However, the lamp functions can only be controlled via software when connected to your spectrometer.

Novel Deuterium Tungsten Halogen Sources

Our deuterium tungsten halogen sources combine the continuous spectrum of deuterium and tungsten halogen lamps in a single optical path. These combined-spectrum sources produce stable, continuous UV-VIS output that make them ideal for applications such as absorbance spectroscopy.
