Multispectral Imaging Sales and Marketing Engineer


Department: Ocean Thin Films
Location: Golden, Colorado
Position Summary:

Position Summary:  

Responsible for managing customer relationships and generating business development opportunities within the multispectral sensing and imaging market.  Primary focus will be developing scientific applications and technical customers associated with multispectral imaging cameras.  Requires commercial and technical interaction with scientists, engineers and program managers in both academic and industrial settings.  This position will be located in the Golden, Colorado facility.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops business growth opportunities at new and existing customers in the multispectral sensing and imaging market.

  • Works within the industry to identify and nurture applications knowledge.

  • Works in conjunction with Ocean Thin Films engineers to develop product enhancements.

  • Acts as primary applications engineering contact for customers and distributors.

  • Produces market information regarding programs, customers and competitors to support fact-based strategic planning; includes creating and maintaining a product/capability roadmap.

  • Drives applications knowledge and communicates that to the industry through white papers, symposia presentation, trade group involvement, etc.

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with customer contacts including:

  • Industry thought leaders (designers, scientists, academics & end users)

  • Engineers and engineering managers

  • Buyers and program managers

  • Provides on-site customer assistance regarding existing and new programs including:

  • Review of customer technical specifications, delivery requirements and cost objectives.

  • Communication of Ocean Thin Films guidance regarding specifications, delivery and pricing.

  • Drives New Product Introduction projects:

  • Initiates, develops and defines customer requirements in a consultative sales environment

  • Provides ongoing technical interaction with the support of Ocean Thin Films experts.

  • Communicates the voice of the customer to the Ocean Thin Films organization.

  • Guides and tracks development projects to completion in a timely manner.

  • Maintains strong relationships and communication links with Ocean Thin Films facilities & organizations.

  • May coordinate additional technical support and services to fulfill customer needs.

  • Interprets account trends and clearly communicates opportunities and threats.

  • Develops and executes sales and marketing plans for appropriate customers and product lines.

  • Travels frequently (up to 50%), including extended travel and short notice travel.

  • Understands and utilizes financial information for forecasting, opportunity evaluation and quoting.

Education, Training, and Skill Recommendations/Requirements:

  • Minimum Masters degree in science or engineering, preferably in the field of applied chemistry, materials science or spectroscopy (Ph.D. is ideal)

  • 5+ years industrial experience with an emphasis on scientific imaging and spectral imaging

  • 5+ years experience in a business development or sales engineering role desirable

  • Employs good written and oral English communication skills

  • Must be computer literate in Windows, MS Office and Outlook; Ideally capable of advanced computer scientific programs and/or programming
