CHEMUSB4-VIS-NIR Spectrophotometer

The CHEMUSB4-VIS-NIR packages a high-tech built-in light source, a USB4000 Spectrometer, a holder for 1-cm cuvettes, and high-speed electronics into a small-footprint system. The CHEMUSB4-VIS-NIR provides real-time, PC-based spectroscopy and captures full spectra from 370 to 985 nm in only 25 milliseconds.

The CHEMUSB4-VIS-NIR is available for Call for Price.

Features

  • Fully integrated, preconfigured system covers the 370 to 985 nm range at 1.0 nm (FWHM)

  • See changes as small as 0.01 Absorbance Units

  • Small-footprint system ideal for the laboratory and the classroom

  • Direct-attach deuterium tungsten/violet LED light source and sample holder

  • USB 2.0 interface for fast, hassle-free spectrometer-to-PC connection

Direct-attach Light Source

The CHEMUSB4-VIS-NIR uses the USB-ISS-VIS combination sample holder (1-cm cuvette) and violet LED-boosted tungsten light source for measuring relative absorbance. The light source boosts signal in the blue and provides over 45,000 hours of use.

Programmable Microcontroller

The CHEMUSB4-VIS-NIR uses our USB4000 Spectrometer. The USB4000 features an onboard programmable microcontroller that provides you with considerable flexibility in controlling the spectrometer and accessories. Through a 22-pin connector, you can implement all operating parameters in the software: control light sources, create processes, and retrieve information on external objects. You have access to 8 user-programmable digital Inputs/Outputs for interfacing to other equipment. (Contact an Applications Scientist regarding what you'll need to program the GPIOs.)

Modular Design

Ocean Optics offers complete line of fiber optic sampling accessories and teaching tools to further enhance your CHEMUSB4-VIS-NIR system. Most accessories have SMA 905 connectors for application flexibility; changing the sampling system is as easy as unscrewing a connector and adding new components or accessories.

For even more flexibility, consider the CHEM4-VIS-FIBER. An optical fiber based system, the CHEM4-UV-FIBER lets you quickly and easily couple fiber optic accessories, such as reflection probes or transmission dip probes, to the system's light source.

Plug-and-Play Operation

The CHEMUSB4-VIS-NIR interfaces to a PC, PLC or other embedded controllers via USB 2.0 or RS-232 serial port. When using the serial port, the system requires a single 5-volt power supply (not included). Data unique to each spectrometer is programmed into a memory chip on the USB4000; our spectrometer operating software reads these values for easy setup and hot swapping among PCs.

Serial port operation tips: When using the serial port, the USB4000 requires a single 5-volt power supply (not included). Also, SpectraSuite Spectroscopy Software does not support spectrometer operation via the serial port. However, using the included Serial Port Command Set, you can write your own software that makes serial port operation possible.

Convenient Calibration

To maintain the quality of your spectrometer's wavelength calibration, we recommend our drift-free, calibration light sources. Click here for details.
