USB2000-VIS-NIR Spectrometer

The USB2000-VIS-NIR Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer is a small-footprint, plug-and-play version of our revolutionary S2000 Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer.

  • Preconfigured optical bench

  • 350-1000 nm

  • USB interface; no external power requirements

  • Modular system can be enhanced with sampling accessories and direct-attach modules

The USB2000-VIS-NIR uses the Sony ILX511 detector and is available in limited quantities. Please contact the Ocean Optics OEM Sales Manager for information on availability and pricing.

The USB2000-VIS-NIR Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer is a small-footprint spectrometer that plugs into the USB port of any desktop or notebook PC, eliminating the need for separate analog-to-digital converters and interface cabling. Users can connect the spectrometer directly to a desktop PC without having to open the PC chassis or search for available IRQs and Input/output ranges.

The USB2000-VIS-NIR is Call for Price.

Hot Swapping & Serial Interface Option

Interfacing the USB2000-VIS-NIR to a PC via the USB port supports hot-swapping of the spectrometer. Our Spectrometer Operating Software recognizes and reads data programmed on the spectrometer and even adjusts the parameters specific to that spectrometer, saving time and reducing configuration errors. Data programmed into a memory chip on each USB2000-VIS-NIR includes wavelength calibration coefficients, linearity coefficients and the serial number unique to each spectrometer.

Modular Design & Accessory Options

The USB2000-VIS-NIR is pre-set at Ocean Optics in a configuration appropriate for most absorbance/transmission and reflectance experiments. The spectrometer is compatible with our complete line of stand-alone spectroscopic accessories, and is also available with light sources and accessories that attach directly to the spectrometer via a 10-pin connector.

The USB2000-VIS-NIR direct-attach accessories receive power and control signals through the 10-pin connector, so that separate power supplies are not required. These are among your options:

Serial Port Option

The USB2000 also has an RS-232 serial port for interfacing to PCs and PLCs. Serial port use requires an external power supply and 9-pin serial cable (USB-ADP-PC).

Firmware for PX-2 Light Source

The USB2000's firmware can be reprogrammed to work with the PX-2 Light Source in pulsed mode. Indicate part number PX-2-FIRMWARE when ordering your USB2000 for this no-charge service.

FIRMWARE-FLG Upgrade for Gated-mode Operation

The USB2000's firmware can be reprogrammed with variable-delay microcode that allows you to select a delay (from 5-500 microseconds) between the light turning on and the start of the spectrometer's integration time, or the amount of time the detector "sees" the sample. In this mode, the spectrometer only detects the sample light when the source is off. FIRMWARE-FLG is available for Call for Price.
